Should John McCain be asked to denounce his Spiritual guide Rod Parsley? McCain has referred to Parsley as his spiritual guide. He sought out this man's endorsement he has taken money from him. Why does Obama have to answer for rev. Wright, but we can't question McCain about Rod Parsley or Ted Haggart? I admit a mistake concerning Haggard. But how about answering the question about Rod Parsley if you have the brains or the nerve to do it!!!
William Ayers vs. Rod Parsley? Rev. Wright vs. John Hagee? Saw this on another board, thought it was well thought out: "I'm curious to know what the difference is between William Ayers and Rod Parsley. I'm also curious to know what is the difference between Reverand Wright and Pastor John Hagee. --- William Ayers was a 1960's radical activist and co-founder of the Weather Underground, a radical left organization that organized protests and also bombed buildings. Today, William Ayers is professor at the University of Illinois and is known for his work in school reform and community organizing. Barack Obama and William Ayers have had professional contact. Ayers was appointed by chicago Mayor Richard Daley to assist in founding the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school reform program. Senator Obama served on the board of the CAC from 1995 to 2002. William Ayers also hosted a candidate reception attended by Obama early in Obama's first Illinois state Senate campaign in 1995. The two served at the same time on the Woods Fund Board, an anti-poverty philanthropic foundation, from 1999 until Obama left in 2002. Barack Obama has described William Ayers as follows: "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis." --- Rod Parsley is an American televangelist, senior pastor of World Harvest Church (a Pentacostal megachurch in Ohio). Pastor Parsley is most well known for two things. First, he believes there should be no separation between church and state; he has opposed same-sex marriage, abortion, and anti-hate speech legislation. Second, Parsley has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it. Parsley claims that Islam is an "anti-Christ religion" predicated on "deception." The Muslim prophet Muhammad, he writes, "received revelations from demons and not from the true God." And he emphasizes this point: "Allah was a demon spirit." Parsley endorsed John McCain, who called Parsley a "spiritual guide." McCain had actively sought Parsley's endorsement during his Republican primary battle with Mike Huckabee. McCain later rejected Parsley's endorsement based on Parsley's statements regarding Islam. Parsley went on to say that he doesn't believe America can "truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed” (referring once again to Islam) and that Muhammad is "the mouthpiece of a conspiracy of spiritual evil." In repudiating Parsley's comments, McCain stated, "I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement." --- So, we have two Senators. Both are running for president. Being Senators, I can appreciate how many poeple these men have come into contact with, worked on projects alongside, shook hands with, attended events simultaneously, and networked through, with, over, under and around. I can further appreciate that William Ayers is a lame guy, at least in my opinion. I wouldn't be friends with this man, but then neither was Barack Obama. Their interactions were professional and relatively impersonal; it's not like they worked exclusively together without anyone else on controversial projects such as what William Ayers used to do almost 40 years ago. I can similarly appreciate that Rod Parsley is a lame guy. I wouldn't want to be friends with this man, but then neither was John McCain. Their interactions were professional and relatively impersonal. And even despite John McCain's feeling that Parsley is a "spiritual guide," I'm willing to discount this comment as injudicious. It's not like Parsley and McCain worked exclusively together without anyone else on controversial projects such as destroying Islam. However, I'm forced to note McCain does share Parsley's belief in church and state by his own mirroring of the religious right's war on abortion and gay marriage. But why is Barack Obama getting assaulted incessantly by attack groups about William Ayers, when John McCain has thus far escaped similar criticism for his alleged relationship with Rod Parsley? And we all know about Pastor Wright's radical comments about America and whites, something Barack Obama gets dinged on every day despite only having attended his church maybe 20 times in as many years (Newsweek). We hear about Wright all the time from people. But what about McCain and Pastor John Hagee? Hagee endorsed McCain, and initially Mccain was "proud" to receive it. Hagee has said Hurricane Katrina was "the judgment of God against New Orleans" and that Hitler was a "hunter" and "part of a divine plan to drive Jews from Europe to Palestine." Granted, McCain later rejected the endorsement parti
For some reason I keep getting emails from Rod Parsley, and I can't get them to stop even after unsubscribing I routinely get 1 or 2 emails a day from a pastor named Rod Parsley. I never signed up for anything, as I don't agree with this guy on many issues. Anyways I have clicked unsubscribe on the emails about seven times, as well as emailing them 10 different occasions asking them to remove me from their mailing list. They refuse to remove me and instead of removing me I have started getting emails from Rod Parsley's organization "Center for Moral Clarity" as well. No matter how many emails I send requesting to be removed or how many times I unsubscribe I can't get off the mailing list. Anyone have any ideas on how to get off? Also doesn't this count as harassment? "?????????????????I was with you until I read your last line perve. " what are you talking about? I asked wouldn't this count as harassment due to their not being a reasonable opt-out option. How does this make me a pervert? Opinionated: I have already done this and instead of removing me from the mailing list it signed me up for another organization that he is the owner of "Center for Moral Clarity" and I can't get off of either list
Are there other Christian ministries able to reach out to Myanmar people & China, other than Rod Parsley? http://www.rodparsley.com has found favor to be able to help the most devistated in Myanmar. But what other Christian ministries are able to help? I am glad that I can help through the Rod Parsley ministry, but what other ministries? Also Doctors without Boarders is getting in to help victims of Myanmar.
Pastor Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Mega Church Calling for the Destruction of Islam .What is his Chance? Pastor Rod Parsley: American Created by God to Destroy Islam http://motherjones.com/politics/2008/03/mccains-spiritual-guide-destroy-islam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Parsley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXZbIGJrDkg http://www.globalpolitician.com/2823-islam-religion-christanity
Extremist christian rod parsley calls on a war with islam. Should he be allowed to preach hate on public TV? The man offends and curses every religon known to man other than christianity. he says that ALL MUSLIMS are bad whether it be men, women, children. if they are muslim they are automatically demons as rod parsley likes to point out. Why arent christians outraged at his hate? Why arent they denouncing his hate speeches? I believe in FREEDOM of religion. it doesnt seem that he does. what do you think? He also wants to make it a Felony if a person commits adultery or has sex without marriage. Google it http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/03/john-mccain-rod-parsley-spiritual-guide.html http://www.thesop.org/index.php?id=10272
Rod Parsley. Do you know of this televangelist? For entertainment, I was channel surfing and found Rod Parsley who has been talking about the "needs" of his multimillion dollar ministry. "God is commanding" him to tell his flock there is still a need for the church and is instructing people to send in their checks! "A seed" he calls it. "Do not disobey." "Do it now and reap a harvest of a miracle." "Uncommon obedience" [to send money] is what he claims God has told him is necessary. The entire thing was about sending in money. I did not hear him talk about the teachings of Jesus once. An announcer casually mentioned Jesus, and there were a few references to helping the poor. Doesn't this seem odd to anyone else? Preaching not about religious values, but about sending in your check? (Time to change the channel.......... ...CLICK!)
To Christians: do you agree with Rod Parsley? I was just flipping through channels on television and I saw the ad for a man named Rod Parsley. He was talking about his program called Jubilee Covenant, about how 2007 will bring miracles in all aspects of your life if you join his "Covenant." He went on and on about how much success would come to you this year and how 2007 is the "Year of Jubilee" as supposedly mentioned in the Bible. However, after he finished blabbering about all that somewhat uplifting information, he cut directly to the chase which was that you have to pay $50 or more to join his "Covenant." I believe that if he really wanted to help people and bring joy to their lives he would do it for free. How do Christians feel about this? Because he certainly has left a bad impression in me.
Are you going to help Rod Parsley out of his financial difficulties? http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2009/12/16/rod-parsley-asks-for-donations.html?sid=101 The Rev. Rod Parsley has issued a desperate plea for money, telling his flock that he is facing a "demonically inspired financial attack" that is threatening his ministry. When asked to comment yesterday, Parsley's World Harvest Church issued a statement saying the recession caused a decline in member giving in 2009, which has led to a fourth-quarter deficit of $3 million despite a 30 percent reduction in the budget. This year, the church settled for $3.1 million with a family whose son was spanked at its day-care center in 2006, to the point his buttocks and legs were covered with welts and abrasions. How much are you going to send to help this man of God?
1998 - Rod Parsley declares Year of Jubilee - what ever became of that ? Just prior to 1998, TV evangelist Rod Parsley declared that since it had been 50 years since Israel re-emerged as a nation in 1948, the 2nd coming would happen, because of the concept of how every 50 years land would return to it's owner - they called this the jubilee year. Did he ever explain why this never came to pass ? Actually, a lot of pontificators have changed the key date from 1948 to 1967 (Taking back of Jerusalem), and now it has been 41 years - over a 40 year (Biblical generation) period.
Pastor Rod Parsley was NEVER McCains pastor! So why is the media LYING about it? It is a proven fact that the racist Pastor Jeremiah Wright was Obama's pastor for the last 20 years HOWEVER Rod Parsley was NEVER McCains pastor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS A FACT! So why is news networks like ABC lying about this story? NunnyBun aka simpleton, Yey I do have a problem with it dumb dumb! It's a lie! Do you have a problem with me calling you a dumb dumb? If so....TOO BAD DUMB DUMB!
Rev. Wright, Rev. Rod Parsley and Rev. Jesse Jackson ... are Christian Ministers? Your thoughts? Rev. Wright spews "G-d dam America" Rev. Rod Parsley calls America to Kill Islam Now ... Rev. Jesse Jackson said he wants to perform a crude surgical operation to remove a Presidential Candidate's Testicales. All three of these men are American Christian Ministers who (are supposed to) represent the teachings of God ... BUT talk like the Devil himself. - Strange how some people are so worried about Muslims when Christians, right under our noses are just as full of hatred. Funny, how some Christians point fingers but fail to see fault in their own. Even Homeland Security turns a blind eye ... and Jackson threatened a Presidential Candidate! If Christian Ministers can't walk the walk and talk the talk, Appropriately ... then send them to Gitmo too! Cheezygr; Ok, here's some white guys ... Tim McVay and Terry Nicholes: Terrorists, Blew up Oklahoma City Federal Building. (Didn't cause prejudice with that.) Cheezygr ... Rod Parsley IS WHITE.
What do you think of TV evangelist Rod Parsley? I'm a Catholic. However, a couple of years ago, I had some questions about the Church, and began exploring other Christian traditions. Somehow, earlier this year, my path led to Rod Parsley and his TV program Breakthrough. It drew me in. Against my better instincts, I began supporting his efforts, collecting his teachings, and totally absorbed all of it. In October, someone I care about (a fellow Catholic) passed away. I wanted to pray for the repose of his soul, and you can only do that in the Catholic Church! So I did all the things good Catholics do -- I went to confession, back to Mass, and found the joy and peace that drew me there in the first place. Unfortunately, I also keep finding myself drawn to Pastor Parsley and his teachings. He also frightens me because I've read so much negative feedback about him on the net -- some people even compare him to Jim Jones! I just want to get a consensus of opinions from people reading this -- what do you think of Rod Parsley?
Why is McCain's link to Televangelist Rod Parsley being ignored/overlooked? Senator John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser an Ohio megachurch pastor who has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it. On February 26, McCain appeared at a campaign rally in Cincinnati with the Reverend Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Church of Columbus, a supersize Pentecostal institution that features a 5,200-seat sanctuary, a television studio (where Parsley tapes a weekly show), and a 122,000-square-foot Ministry Activity Center. That day, a week before the Ohio primary, Parsley praised the Republican presidential front-runner as a "strong, true, consistent conservative." The endorsement was important for McCain, who at the time was trying to put an end to the lingering challenge from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, a favorite among Christian evangelicals. A politically influential figure in Ohio, Parsley could also play a key role in McCain's effort to win this bellwether state in the general election. McCain, with Parsley by his side at the Cincinnati rally, called the evangelical minister a "spiritual guide." In a chapter titled "Islam: The Deception of Allah," Parsley warns there is a "war between Islam and Christian civilization." He continues: I cannot tell you how important it is that we understand the true nature of Islam, that we see it for what it really is. In fact, I will tell you this: I do not believe our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam. I know that this statement sounds extreme, but I do not shrink from its implications. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore. The leader of a 12,000-member congregation, Parsley has written several books outlining his fundamentalist religious outlook, including the 2005 Silent No More. In this work, Parsley decries the "spiritual desperation" of the United States, and he blasts away at the usual suspects: activist judges, civil libertarians who advocate the separation of church and state, the homosexual "culture" ("homosexuals are anything but happy and carefree"), the "abortion industry," and the crass and profane entertainment industry. And Parsley targets another profound threat to the United States: the religion of Islam.
Why has the media ignored the comments John Hagee and Rod Parsley? John Hagee called The Catholic Church the great whore. He said God sent Hitler to hunt the Jews so they could go back to their homeland. Parsley said America was created to destroy Islam. Hagee said New Orleans deserved Katrina beacuse that had a gay pride rally. Wow. It seems that if you are white and you say hateful things, White America has no problem. But when a black man syas something, he is the devil. Double standard? Hell yeah.
Will the GOP presidential candidate John McCain renounce The Anti-Moslem Ohio Pastor Rod Parsley? By David Corn March 12, 2008 Senator John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser an Ohio megachurch pastor who has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it.On February 26, McCain appeared at a campaign rally in Cincinnati with the Reverend Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Church of Columbus, a super size Pentecostal institution that features a 5,200-seat sanctuary, a television studio (where Parsley tapes a weekly show), and a 122,000-square-foot Ministry Center. That day, a week before the Ohio primary, Parsley praised the Republican presidential front-runner as a "strong, true, consistent conservative." Televangelist Rod Parsley, a key McCain ally in Ohio, has called for eradicating the "false religion." In a chapter titled "Islam: The Deception of Allah," Parsley warns there is a "war between Islam and Christian civilization." America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed. Typical White person ha 16 Bigots Thumps up. Captain Bill I hope he remembers. Blue grass, u got 12 Thumps Down some are close minded. Pell this is a bigoted answer. Rev rolfus. mos;ems do not like u. retired. did u forget is about rod Parsely the bigot? Max u have double standard. R U Racist? Tin .. do not address me. Gentle: the Moslems in Britain are suffering from Bigots except for archbishop William Rowans and Prince Charles. Member u r Moslem hater and the day u die there will be Islam and may be ur offspring may become Moslems. Uncle gru .. Islam will survive to ur shock. DP if u think that u or fanatic Satan Rod can destroy Islam the u can go to mental institution. Kevorkian ... the Turks taught the Armenians good lesson. Bravo. Never the less there are lot of Armenians in Turkey and they should be kicked out. The Armenians were waging war agianst Islam so the Turks killed the dastardts. Why the Moslem countries are giving refuge to the Armenians Moslem haters. Kick them out.
For those who though Jerimiah Wright was a problem for Obama, what about Rod Parsley? Rod Parsley wants to 'destroy Islam' - yet McCain still worships him. If those of you thought that the Wright videos say something about Obama, what do you think of Parsley: http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/05/john-mccain-rod-parsley-pastor-problem.html Doesn't this make John McCain III a hypocrite for saying that he doesn't hang around with people that don't renounce their past vile remarks and thoughts, and that because Obama merely was on the same Board of Directors with Ayers, for instance, that that somehow denigrates Obama?
Is McCain Getting Into Bed with the Religious Right? Rod Parsley and John Hagee? http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=25053 In his effort to curry favor with conservative Republican activists, John McCain has worked hard to cuddle up to Religious Right leaders. But voters should know who exactly he’s been courting. This week McCain campaigned with Rod Parsley, founder and president of “The Center for Moral Clarity” and leader of the right-wing “Patriot Pastors” (a church based campaign that was infamous for referring to political opponents as “secular jihadists,” the “forces of darkness,” and the “hordes of hell.”): http://www.centerformoralclarity.net/index.aspx Not one to make a right-wing supporter feel left out, McCain said, “I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee’s support.” John Hagee is the Founder and National Chairman of Christians United for Israel: http://www.cufi.org/site/PageServer Has McCain changed his mind about what is an ‘agent of intolerance’ or has he decided that a little extremism in pursuit of power is now a-ok?
How many Christians think Benny Hinn and Rod parsley are.......,,,? How many of you think these guys are for real, along with the whorehouse on TBN? Jan and Paul Crouch are an embarassment to Christians. tati,i guess you forget,,, lord, lord, have we not prophecied in your name. The Lord said, go away, I never knew you.
Rod Parsley said on his show? that Obama's healthcare proposal would force abortion to be available on-demand. I don't see how that is possible. Will we all have to get new remote controls?
Should Pastor Rod Parsley be allowed to address the UN in 2008? Should Pastor Rod Parlsey, a conservative Christian Protestant, be allowed to address the United Nations in 2008? Should he be allowed to pray over the United Nations and extend an altar call for all members to accept Jesus Christ and be baptised as Christians (aka Protestants)? (Dr. Billy Graham would be historically preferred but due to old age, unfortunately, Dr. Billy Graham is likely not able to do it).
Fellow Christians: Are you familiar with Pastor Rod Parsley and what is your opinion of him and his ministry? adorkable - Thanks but I have no intention of staying away from him. As a matter of fact, I'm planning my vacation so that I can visit his church.
Why would McCain call pastor Rod Parsley his "spiritual guide" when he...? ...believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain also sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult." That sounds worse than Rev. Wright. What are your thoughts on this? . "McCain's Spiritual Guide: Destroy Islam," Mother Jones Magazine, March 12, 2008 http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/03/john-mccain-rod-parsley-spiritual-guide.html "Will McCain Specifically 'Repudiate' Hagee's Anti-Gay Comments?," ThinkProgress, March 12, 2008 http://thinkprogress.org/2008/03/12/mccain-hagee-anti-gay/ "McCain 'Very Honored' By Support Of Pastor Preaching 'End-Time Confrontation With Iran,'" ThinkProgress, February 28, 2008 http://thinkprogress.org/2008/02/28/hagee-mccain-endorsement/
What's wrong with Rod Parsley being McSames adviser and Hagee his 20 year preacher? Here is a link as my source: http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/03/john-mccain-rod-parsley-spiritual-guide.html
christians, do any of you like Rod Parsley? there is something about him that doesn't sit well with me and i was wondering your thoughts of him.
Does Pastor Rod Parsley think Obama is the antichrist? ? or does he think Obama is evil? Serious answers only please
Isn't Mccain being tight with Rod Parsley just as bad as Obama was with the Rev. Wright? Both of them would be considered radicals right?? http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/38133-mccain-s-spiritual-guide-wants-america-to-destroy-islam John McCain actively sought and received Parsley's endorsement in the presidential race. McCain has called Parsley "a spiritual guide," and he hasn't said whether he shares Parsley's vicious anti-Islam views. That's because the mainstream media refuses to ask. Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion." In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis. Why does it matter if he was his pastor or not? He still liked and associated with him. That's a weak arguement. I am not an Obamanite. I think Obama and Mccain are wiggedy-wiggedy wack. But the government did create AIDS. I thought that was common knowledge for people who aren't still dumb enough to believe it came from humping monkeys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SZHcK81Zlg Ooooperz, I think that was the wrong link http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=327_1195303011
What do you think about Rod Parsley endorsing Mccain? It's my belief that neither candidate no matter what political party should be scrutinize for a endorsement that wasn't asked for. Mccain may have asked for Hagee's but I don't think he's that dumb to know what Hagee stands for and seek endorsement. I get so annoyed when people criticize Obama when he is endorsed by people by Hamas and etc it's not like Obama called them up and asked. People don't choose who endorses them. I dont agree with Mccain's policies but I don't think he should be scrutinized for Parsley's endorsement. No matter what, people who aren't really into politics will see it on the news and possibly influence their votes. The only way I think Mccain should be scrutinize for it is if he spews the same things the person believes. As a democrat I am saying that I don't think Mccain nor Obama be scrutinized for Pastoral Probelms. Especially if they denounce them. BEcause if Mccain makes light of Wright on Obama and thinks he's all fine and dandy when he has Parseley and H agee's endorsement there is a double standard. We need to get rid of this double standard. What do you think
Did McCain ever know anything about Rod Parsley or John Hagee? I was astonished the first time I heard that McCain accepted endorsements gladly from Hagee and Parsely. I have listened to these nutcases for years just as a form of personal entertainment. The things they say are absolutely outrageous, ie... Parsley saying that Islam is evil and the founders of the country wanted to stamp it out and Hagee with his endless sermons on the end of the world etc... I'm convinced that McCain never knew much about these people in the first place and just wanted to gain some more of the end times cult member votes. Do you think he ever really followed any of these guys?
Why doesn't the media give attention to McCain and his spiritual advisor, Rod Parsley? Parsley is TRULY NUTS. See for yourself: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ac6_1205443879 My question is this- why doesn't the media give this as much attention as they gave Obama's preacher? edit: Parsley runs the World Harvest church in Ohio. One step down from a cult. edit: Another linkd: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/21/mccain-spiritual-guide-ac_n_92757.html McCAIN has CALLED PARSLEY his spiritual guide. Google it yourself.
Has anyone ever watched Rod Parsley on the Trinity Broadcasting Network? What kind of a rating would give him your opinion on his preaching?1)Geat 2)Good 3)Ok 4)Fair.
Have you been watching Rod Parsley lately? He is raising money to pay for sonograms for prospective women who want an abortion. I applaud his efforts.
Rod Parsley....? Anyone else out there think that televangelist Rod Parsley is a fucking wacko nut job? If you're not familiar with him... look it up on Wikipedia.
Is Rod Parsley so called McCain's spiritual guide a racist an Anti-American? http://truthabouttrinity.blogspot.com/2008/03/senator-mccains-pastor-believes-theres.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Parsley
For some reason I keep getting emails from Rod Parsley, and I can't get them to stop even after unsubscribing I routinely get 1 or 2 emails a day from a pastor named Rod Parsley. I never signed up for anything, as I don't agree with this guy on many issues. No matter how many emails I send requesting to be removed or how many times I unsubscribe I can't get off the mailing list. Anyone have any ideas on how to get off? Also doesn't this count as harassment? umm john what the hell are you talking about? I have advanced computer knowledge, having taken many computer programming courses... what is he just going to magically going to come through my computer and kill me during the night? And why the hell would I give him my ssn, or any of the other information, the letters aren't scams, they're just trying to force beliefs on people that normally wouldn't agree with them. aziz, that is a very good point, I am very glad I don't get emails or IMs from him lol.... still doesn't really help me with my problem but thanks for the good laugh
Is Rod Parsley an extremist? He made a guest appearance at my ex-church a while back. He has you visualizing the most graphic things while sitting in service. Notice how I called it my "ex-church". Anyone else ever heard his preachings and thought similar? and does John McCain really look up to him?
Followup quest. Do u know Rod Parsley etal asked for the first mths wages as tithes? In January '06, several 'ministers' asked for the 1st day, 1st week and 1st months wages as first fruits offerings. Some even asked that those who can afford $10,000 send a check or those who did not have cash to use their credit cards then pay it off. Is that right? There are older retirees who feel compelled to obliged. It smacks of any old scam to me. BTW: I'm not talking about the local churches where people tithe to keep the doors open and to obey the bible's directives. Today, I'm a little bit of a devil's advocate - my inner evil child is in control.
Rod Parsley, McCain's "Spiritual Compass"??? Has anyone seen clips of this guy? He calls for the destruction of Islam while McCain wants to win the hearts and minds of Muslims! Is there any religious leader out there that isn't wacko?
Do you believe that churches should be transparent with their income and financial records? There is a huge mega-church here in Columbus (World Harvest Ministries) that refuses to open it's books to auditors, despite the fact that it's been sued multiple times over mis-use of tithes and donations and underpaying church employees and contractors. Still, it's paster Rod Parsley has the audacity to: 1: Force church employees to put their children in a church run private school with no break in tuition costs 2: Deduct 10% for tithe out of any church employee's paycheck if they are members of the church 3. Charge a fee for the right to sit in the first few rows during his televised sermons 4. Outright demand money from his congregation, stating it's a sin not to give less than $1000.00 during one sermon Much of it has been documented - do a search on World Harvest. I also have a relative who works for the church. He's witnessed a lot of misdoing there. http://www.pfo.org/parsley.htm http://www.forgottenword.org/parsley.html http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?articleId=10473 http://www.secularleft.us/archives/2006/01/rev_rod_parsley.html http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Wolves/rod_parsley.htm Lion of Judah - If you want to bring up seperation of church and state, I should bring up the fact that World Harvest has been reported to the IRS for using the pulpit to shamelessly promote political candidates like Ken Blackwell and Bush. Telling people that it's a sin to not vote for a candidate is a violation of their non-exempt status. Where's the seperation of c &s if Parsely actively participates in political campaigning?
Do you agree with religous leaders preaching politics instead of doctrine? Pastors such as John Hagee and Rod Parsley seem to be running for office at times.
McCain considers Rod Parsley as a Spiritual Adviser? Senator John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser an Ohio megachurch pastor who has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it. Is this the attitude we want to show our American Muslims? The problem is that McCain admitted knowing his pastor's comments to destroy Islam unlike Obama with Rev Wrights comments Yes he is his spiritual adviser im not making it up . http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article3548250.ece
Why do Pastors Rod Parsley and John Hagee complain about USA society today so much? Why do they complain yet the American Federation of Teachers seems to believe the USA is generally alright? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Parsley http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hagee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Federation_of_Teachers mike posted: Because we live in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. --- Yes, that's sounds quite like some of the sermons of Pastors Parsley and Hagee.

Do you agree with John McCain that Rev Rod Parsley is a moral compass and great spiritual leader? YAHOO NEWS (video) McCain faces own pastor problem with anti-Muslim evangelist http://www.yahoo.com/s/886097 CBS NEWS May 22, 2008 Yesterday it was anti-Semitism from John Hagee (John McCain's view: I'm "glad to have his endorsement"); today it's an anti-Islamic rant from Rod Parsley (John McCain's view: Parsley is "a moral compass"). http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/05/22/politics/animal/main4118327.shtml Dina W (below) Great spin. You seem to have left out the part where McCain actively sought their endorsement. Thus McCain chose them vs they other way around.
