I am trying to make my own headers for my rat rod. I want to use 1 3/4" stainless tubing for a 351 winsor.? I want this size tubing for the look I like , but the tubing is to large for the bolt pattern of 1 1/2". We are going to make the pipe ob-long, and I am looking for an idea or adaptor to give me clearance to fit inside the 1 1 /2" bolt pattern. Any ideas?

Model A Rat Rod? I have a model A body and frame. I want to built a cheap hot rod/rat rod. What would be the cheapest way to go. My older brother is going to help me. He has build old school hot rods he learned from my grandpa. Not many of them old school guys around these days. He knew some of the old tricks of the trade. But the problem is my brother is always blowing budgets cause he doesn't ever has one. But I do. So I want to make a good rod with a limited budget. I am 19 and my brother is 30. Building a rat-rod coupe (car and truck)? I've always wanted to build a rat-rod car or truck. But not really sure how, from what I understand its rather easy. So correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I'd do it: Buying a small RWD car, taking off the chassy, building a body (or striping a body), replacing the engine with something large (V6-V8). Does this sound reasonable from what I understand?

Rat Rod Bug question...? My bf wants to make his 73 bug a rat rod. We went to the VW Classic at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA yesterday and ran into a guy who had his bug as a rat rod. he said that he got a "spacer" from a guy that goes by "Tin Beater" has anyone heard of him or know what the technical term for the spacer to make it a rat rod from the front? my rat rod 1958 ford fairlane y-block WILL NOT START no matter what i do, HELP? ive asked questions on here before, on hot rod websites, rat rod ones, emailed specialists. i gotta ask one more time before i cave in and have a tow truck take it to a shop :-/ short summary: did an engine swap. took out an I6, put in a 292 v8. everything is new/ replaced. new spark plugs, new wires, new distributor cap, new points, rotor, condensor, new solenoid, juice is getting to the coil, its getting spark, all the spark plug wires are getting spark. battery fully charged. ignition is good.... 1962 Corvair Rat Rod. Need tips on how to make it a cruiser.? i have a 1962 Corvair with an automatic 2 speed power glide. its primered brown right now. i want to primer a different color. looking for a like flat mint green color with the rims painted red on white walls. or a flat black with the same effect to the the wheels. it has stock bucket seats and the interior is blue. i guess i am asking for ideas on what would look the best. i want to slam this peice, and re-do the interior little by little. I'm wanting to put metal signs in my rat rod's floor boards. Any ideas on how to keep them in place? ? I'm wanting to put old and new metal advertisement signs in the floor of my RAT ROD (1953 Pontiac Chieftain). It already has the padding that you would use if you were going to put carpet in. I want to keep the padding to help keep out the noise and heat. I know that screws would probably hold them in place the best, but at the same time the screw holes would get wet and rust. I have thought of using a really high temp glue gun or molding tape but i'm just not sure on what will stick to the padding best. Thanks, for your help!
Making a car shift light out of a can of spray Axe deodorant, for a rat rod? I'm building a rat rod and I'd like to make a shift light out of an aluminum deodorant aerosol can (Axe/Old Spice/Right guard). The barrel of the 4 oz. can is very close to the size of a normal shift light. I have a bulb to put inside the can and an RPM activated switch to light the bulb. The problem I'm having is how to cut the bottom half of the can off smoothly. I tried a hack saw and reciprocating saw and these tear a jagged edge. I also tried a cutoff wheel on the dremel tool, and this heated up the can so much that the paint burned off the sides (I'd like to keep the paint). Does anyone know any better ways to cut the can?

I'm needing some really cool RAT ROD interior ideas.? 1950 Pontiac Chieftain. It's already flat black, red rims and white walls. Now, we are needing some cool ideas for the interior. It doesn't have a headliner, door panels or flooring. We have thought about using old license plates for the floor and maybe even the door panels. Any ideas would be very helpful for the headliner and anything else you can think of that's cool. Oh, it also has a KEG in the trunk for the gas tank and the battery is just there ....sticking out like a sore thumb. Any items on something to cover up the battery. Chevy 350, unknown miles/Rat Rod. Excessive smoke out oil tube/Compression all 90 psi /won't idle/stalls? Carbs (3 two barrel 94's), am I looking at a rebuild? Can't figure out the low compression across the board, all at 90 psi and within a pound of each other/roller rockers/new pushrods (yes, length is same). No backfiring (eliminates worn cam?). Color me confused, and not a engine guy by any strech. Ideas most appreciated. Does not idle well (dies after 30 seconds / appears to be flooding judging from plugs) and will die when gear (automatic) is selected. Timing way high but will not run if backed off. Just got this puppy and don't know where to go from here.

I'm about to start building a 1936 chevy pick up into a rat rod project.? I really want to go with an inline 6 as the powerplant. I'm sick do death of smallblocks, no matter what brand they are. Can anyone recomend a good inline 6 that responds well to performance upgrades? It doesn't matter who made it (GM,Ford,or Chrysler) I was hoping for a GMC 302 from the 1950's but there is not alot of info about these engines. Another thought was a Ford 300 because they made millions of them and they are easy to find. I'd just like something a bit exotic and not seen alot. I know a BMW or Mercedes engine would be cool, but it has to be completely mechanical...no fuel injection or any other electronic devices....only ignition, alternator, and starter.

How do I get a dead rat out of an organ pipe? Apparently a rat (I think it's a rat, could be a pigeon but the church has rats) fell into GGG# of the Bombarde rank. The pipe is knuckled just above the boot so I can't just poke it out with a rod. It's been in there for a long time and is pretty much mummified and stuck pretty good. What is a fair price for a 1947 International pick up truck? I found this truck on an abandoned property by my house. I'm trying to contact the owner to make an offer on it, but I was wondering what a fair price would be. This thing is definitely vintage. Surface rust all over the body, floor pan rusted through, no seats, broken glass, a few dents in the hood. A real fix-er-upper--which is fine, because I'm not going to do a full restoration, I'm going to make a rat rod.
What is the difference between a heavy duty 427, and a racing 427? I have a heavy duty Chevy 427, and I just wondered what the difference is between the heavy one (like those found in the commercial trucks) and racing ones. I know the heavy one has higher torque at lower rpm, but why? Also, would it be worth it to put it in a "rat rod"? Any insight into this would be helpful. would reducing the mass of the wheel help my rat trap car move? I made one of those long ones that use a big long rod and a large wheel (a full size record), but it doesn't move all the time when we activate the trap. The single record, the drive wheel, is in the front. It accelerates as it goes, so our problem is getting it to start. If I hallowed it out some, would that help the car start moving? Also, reducing the mass of the total car, would that help much as well? The wheel moves by itself if we activate the car without it being on the ground. Just adding that.

what is a good paying career to get into after high school? okay lets break down the basics. im a junior in high school in freshmen and sophomore year i was a straight A, student/ A's and B's and now as a junior I have a math class with a D, and a few C's, and a couple A's I'm ranked 95 out of a graduating class of 653. so im average i guess. WHAT A LOAD OF BULL SH** So I stumbled upon a Chevy small block in working order and I want to mold them together to make a rat rod type...I've seen this done alot and I was wondering how I do this myself. I heard of people taking domestic frames and just topping it off with the VW and many other ways I was hoping you guys could tell me the easiest and cheapest way to do this I'm 16 so life is kinda short in the financial area. how do you lower a 62 corvair? i dont know jack shit about this as i worked with aircooled vws. any info is great, level of diffculty, tools needed , materials needed, etc... help out a kiddo finish his 75% done 62 rat rod corvair. ideas on how to hook it up is also valued(i dont want to hear how you dont like corvairs, or nader this, or your friend flipped one, or blew an engine, or how they are unsafe because all of it is bullshit)

A-Rod to the ASTROS???? I realize that Dreyton McClain has a cheap rep, but wouldn't it be great for A-Rod to Opt out of his Yankee deal (rats seem to be jumping ship there - Rocket, Skipper, Andy, Posada, Rivera, etc.) and sign with the Astros? i cant hook up my radio fuse wire to anything, help please!? okay so i have a very old car, 1958 ford fairlane, its not restored or anything its a rat rod, if u know what that is then i'm not going to explain it. but anyways im trying to install this radio. but i only have 2, TWO fuses, and we need to hook up the radio to something so when i turn the key the radio starts, but me and my dad both cant find one that is working. we tried every wire in that car, literally every wire. any ideas on what i can do you think?
