What is the largest backrest for the V-Rod? I have a 2009 Night Rod Special and I am trying to find the tallest and widest back rest available for it. If it has a box attached that would be even better in fact what I really want would be a tour pack set up for the V-Rod but I haven't seen one. So what is the best the best thing available? What I am not asking is what is the best luggage option. What I am asking is what is the best backrest option.
is 21k a lot of miles for a V-rod or any bike? I'm looking at used V-rods for my 1st motorcycle (possibly a Suzuki M109R also). I notice the price is more affordable as they pass 10k mi. Just wondering any reason for that? What type of maintenance and cost to maintain would they need at this mileage?
Is there a motorcycle that looks similar to the Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle? It's a cool looking motorcycle, but I'm not sure I want a Harley-Davidson, based on their mechanical problems. Thanks for all the great answers! And sorry about the stereotype, it's just my fellow motorcyclers cite many issues with Harleys- for example the VRod Street Rod have many technical, and balancing issues...But yeah, if this is a good bike, then that's awesome!
Is the Harley V-Rod a ripoff of the Yamaha VMax? I've heard several people say this and seen it written as well. I'm not sure I believe it, although they are pretty similar. Given, a V-Rod is far from a true Harley anyway, and, even though it has 115 horsepower (about 50 more than my Road King), it looks like a Japanese bike. You wouldn't catch me on one. I just wanna know if Harley was copying the Japanese.

V-Rod or Boulevard M109R? I currently have a 2000 Shadow Aero 1100, but i am looking to more up. But i need some help, i am stuck between the Harley-Davidson VRSCAW V-Rod and the Suzuki Boulevard M109R. I have yet to ride either, but i really like the way they both look. I would greatly appreciate any advice you are able to provide. Thanks!
240 tire on a V-Rod? I have a 2003 V-Rod that is pretty much stock. I want to put a 240 series tire on the back but I'm not sure of the fitment on the rim. The rim size is 5.5x18. I don't know if the rim is too narrow or not. I know I'll have to rework the swingarm a bit but don't want to spend the money on a swingarm kit.
2003 v-rod!!!!!!!!!!!!? what can you tell me about the 2003 v-rod? the very first v-rod. i have to write a essay about it, but you see the teacher didn't really explain anything about the v-rod! please help me!
Powercommander on a V-rod? bought a PCIIIUSB for my 2007 Screaming Eagle V-Rod. There is no map even close that I can tell of on the software or their website. Any ideas?
Who likes the V-Rod? Who thinks the V-Rod is what a Harley should look like? To me it looks ok I suppose, but not at all like a Harley, am interested in your opinions?
V-Rod Muscle looks? http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/23/harley-davidson-rolls-out-new-2009-v-rod-muscle/ So what you think of it? Cool? Something out of an anime movie? I'm sure you there will be test drives in Sturgis for this one.
Is the V-Rod right for me? I am in the market for a new or slightly used Harley. The bikes I like the best are the Fat Bob and the V-Rod. I weigh in at 260lbs and the wife weighs 170lbs. Mostly I will be riding a mix of city/back roads and there will be a 50/50 mix of single or double riding. Is the V-rod comfortable enough for myself and the wife for trips arround a average of 100 plus miles and the occasional 300 plus mile trip. Also, is a fat bob gonna keep me happy with speed and performance with a pipe/filter kit and reflash. I used to have a 07 Sporty xl1200 with a SE kit and exhaust and I thought it was a little to slow for me, will a fat bob be quicker than the sporty?
Harley V-rod motor vs. Buell? Harley went through great lenghts to make the V-rod. In the process, they "legitimized" water-cooling as "equally American" as air-cooling. Air cooling was the standard (and excuse) for many years. During those years, it gave HD the right to insult the "fakeness" of water-cooled twins, and their not-so-well-hidden radiators. My question is, when will HD put a proper Buell motor into a Sportster frame? Just seems so logical. And inexpensive, regarding the non-existent R&D work needed. Doing this from the beginning would have allowed them some continuity, regarding the whole air-cooled thing. Dynaflow...I understand your answer, but don't forget, HD changed an awful lot when they built the V-rod motor. It was a big financial and image risk. Putting a "Buell-ized" Sportster motor into a Sportster, is a zero-risk experiment. Exterior-wise, a Buell motor is dimensionally equal in every way. It is an actual Sportster motor, with a better head and internals. Ninebadthings... I do not care about the "corny low rent "biker image, any more than I care about the Vanilla-Ice look-alikes who wreck GSXRs everyday. I like motorcycles for what they are, and I am simply asking this question from an engineering standpoint. Comparing a Harley to a Ninja is as irrelevant as comparing a tow truck to a Mini-Coopper. It is a retarded comparison that shouldn't even be done. Eveyone knows a sportbike is faster, just like everyone knows you cant tow a Caddilac with a Mini. That doesn't mean you cant optimize the performance of your Mini, in a simple way. Rottendog... Maybe HD didn't build the first VR motor, but they paid for all of the R&D. It's not like they picked a motor off the shelf at Porsche, and said "I'll take that one". They've built all their production VR motors. This isn't an odd question. It's actually rather simple. It's a question I've heard a million times when people are looking at Buells at bike shows. What IS ODD, is how people don't seem to understand what I'm saying. A regular 1200 XLH gets about 50HP, while the same motor in a Buell gets over 100HP. To the uneducated person who claims it's "not that great" of an improvement, since when is 2x the power "not that great"? It is a mystery why HD doesn't at least offer a "limited edition" XLH with a Buell motor. People buy every HD made, regardless of price. Even if it costs $2k more than a "regular" 1200, more people would be interested in it as an alternative to a V-rod. I just thought someone might have some info on this.
Is the Harley V-Rod an ok choice for a first motorcycle? I'm considering getting a motorcycle and really like the style of the Harley V-Rod or possibly one of the Victory models I recently saw that is similar in overall shape / size. I'm 41, 5' 11" 210lbs in "reasonably" good health and I've NEVER ridden a motorcycle before. I have a lot of current road & mountain bicycle experience but other than basic balance I do not think the skill set will be all that similar fo an experience. I have also ridden a small 125 dirt bike just as recreation for a few years off road years ago but other than that nothing. I fully intend to take a local motorcycle training class but that will probably only give me a few hours of riding experience on a smaller bike. So, given my lack of experience, I'm wanting opinions on if this choice of bike would be ok as a first bike or if I would possibly be endangering myself with this choice. Any thought or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Should I get a Harley V-rod or Buell 1125R? I really like sportbikes and my dad is a Harley rider. He really wants me to get a Harley so I said what about a V-rod and I kind of wish I didn't. Thats all he wants me to get and I'm not sure if I would like it and if it's worth the money. I'm 16, I have grown up learning that respect and responsibility are one of the 2 most important things to have and give. I have a 250 Ninja and want to upgrade. I'm not a small guy, I work out and I am 6 foot 1.
what would happen to my Harley Davidson Motorcyle (V Rod Muscle) after installing a High Performance Air Filte? hi everybody, i've just got my dream bike which is a (V ROD Muscle 2010, Vivid Black, Canadian Specs.), been riding it for 2 months (4300km) up till now, installed TAB Performance slip on mufflers, but i've got a couple of questions seeking an expert's feedback: 1. I've already got the (Screaming Eagle High Performance Air filter), but haven't installed it yet, what would happen if i do with regards to the following points: - engine power (goes down by approximately how many hours power?) - sound? roar? (louder, smoother, ???) - any possible back fire? - engine's future hazards/ engine's life??! 2. what is the recommended mileage (but in Kilometers) for proper safe engine oil changing?? 3. is it possible to modify or change the bike sound (increase the splitting time), reduce the racing of the engine? FYI: I'm not interested in upgrading my bike into Stage1, bcz, to me it's already powerful ;S your help guys is kindly appreciated ;) happy new year in advance Cheers
What is your opinion on the Harley Davidson V-Rod? looking to buy one. would like to know if it's worth it. Or maybe i should go for the Honda Fury FURY: http://powersports.honda.com/2010/fury.aspx V-ROD: http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/2009_Motorcycles/2009_Motorcycles.jsp?locale=en_US#/family/vr i do know the v-rod has a porsche engine. it's the first engine ever made by porsche that was put in a bike. but the fury definitely has really great looks. i guess both bikes will turn heads. i'm just a honda fan to the grave and would hate to conform to harley's. might have to though from these answers, seems like the v-rod might be the way to go.
Is a Harley V-Rod too big for a first bike?? I have been wanting a motorcycle for about 5 years now. I'm 24 and reallly like crotch rockets. I was planning on getting a 600 or 750, maybe a 1000. I was at a ridin last week and absolutley fell in love with Harley V-Rods. I am 5'11" tall and weigh about 175 pounds, with a pretty average/athletic build. so do you think this is too much bike for a beginner. I have a friend that has an old honda or yamaha 650 that i can rider for a couple weeks or so to lear and get used to a bike, but I don't want to screw up a 15k+ bike. I really have no riding experience, if i take it slow will I be alright??
What is a better Harley: Screaming Eagle V-Rod vs. VRSCDX Night Rod! 10 POINTS!? Whats more powerful, faster, etc? I'm guessing the S.E? BTW why do hardcore bikers not consider the V-Rods true Harleys? So who wants 10 POINTS? Nine bad things people own bikes for a casual ride, not living out their 16 year old @$$ fanatasies about racing cu*nt. What are the symtoms of bad main vs rod bearings knock? Can anyone explain what the symtoms of main bearings being bad versus rod bearings? I think I have a slight rod knock and am going to try and replace the bearings but I wanted to know if I have to replace the main bearings too or if there is a way to know. Also does anyone know if I can replace the main bearings on my car without having to pull the engine out? I know I can do this for the rod bearings by taking oil pan off and replacing them... I have a 1996 honda accord LX
Honda VTX 1800 or Harley V-Rod? I know the Harley is at least two grand more. In your opinion, which bike is better? Better quality? Faster? Easier to modify? Just more enjoyable?
clicking sound from drive belt. 07' V-Rod.? Any idea what it could be? Sounds like a click on every tooth. I thought the rear wheel was self aligning but it sure sounds like something is off. I also understand that the cush drive rubber could be dry and I have a creak from that but would that also cause the clicking noise? Any ideas? Thanks
V ROD II 10.5 Driver.. help!? so just bought this driver its temporary until i find a better one but what is the 10.5 on the driver cause this guy at the golf shop said it would be best to have a 10.5 on my driver whys that??
Isn't calling a sportster or v-rod "fast" kinda like....? Calling A P-51 or a P-38 fast? sure they are fast compared to other ww2 planes like the B-29 or the B-17... and yes i guess that's a "fair" comparison, but a slap in the face to the word "fast" as compared to airplanes as a whole... But the honest truth is that harley's like ww2 planes can NEVER keep up with modern planes, even at a fraction of the size/cost... and nothing compares to a SR-71 "Blackbird" Since i've put it into perspective, Do you honestly think these boat anchors are FAST? Lnaf: you're obviously oblivious, many people exceed the speed limits quite often... usually we don't get caught, but occasionally, we do... we pay our fines, we go about our lives, continuing to live the way we want to live... triple digits mad jack, a cadillac won't what? my northstar can keep up, no worries
Rod v pole,? l have the oppertunity to buy a new match rod or a 13m pole. all my fishing days lve been used to rod and line. my local lake holds catfish to 45lbs so l guess lve answered my own question, but ld welcome your ideas and opinions.
Why was A-Rod NOT a unanimous choice for M.V.P.? He had Nintendo numbers, for crying out loud. I meant Alex Rodriguez, for those who live in a monastery in Tuscany! For crying out loud, how many M.V.P.s HAVE actually led there team to the World Series? And won? For crying out loud!!!!
How do Illinoisans like Judy Baar Topinka for Governor vs. Rod Blagojevich? No answers by children, please.? Blagojevich, Democrat incumbent, has been criticised for appointing all his friends to state positions. Topinka, Republican challenger, is pro-choice and pro gay rights.. Topinka, Republican, has been ELECTED to three consecutive terms as Treasurer in a Democrat administration, and previously was a public affairs executive with the American Medical Association. "Interested" -- You're a level 5 participant. Tell us a thing or two that you don't like about Blagojevich. You say he's horrible. Wow, this question is growing whiskers and only 3 answers. Just like I thought, not many adults on this site.

What is the min value of v of the pendulum bob ? a bullet of mass m and speed v passes completely through a pendulum bob mass M. the bullet emerges with a speed of v/2 . the pendulum bob is suspended by a stiff rod length l and negligible mass. What is the minimum value of v such that the pendulum bob will barely swing through a complete vertical circle?
Episode V: The rod strikes back? A slender rod (mass m, length L) is pinned at one end and held horizontally by a string. The string is then cut allowing the rod to rotate about the pin support in a vertical plane. A weight of small size << L but substantial mass M is attached to the end of the rod by a tiny, but very stretchy spring w/ Hookes constant k Its equilibrium position is at the end of the rod. It is free to move any way it wants. By divine fiat, the mass doesn't interact with (ie hit) the rod directly. It just bobs around on its spring. And the mass carries a charge q. And I'll place another charge Q at the pin. Nothing conducts. This time, I KNOW the equations of motion will be disgusting, and even coming up with "reasonable" values to computer simulate may be impractical. So just choose reaonable coordinates & write down the equations of motion. And please remember, folks, let us keep our public feuds private (or block the trolls There is no divine force constraining the mass to move in the same line as the rod. I'm willing to restrict it to the same plane as the rod's swinging, though (which it would naturally do anyway unless disturbed). So that's another degree of freedom. As for the spring, one end is on the mass (which you can treat as a point mass). The other end is at the end of the rod. The natural length of the spring is zero (I got a bit more divine help to create such a spring) so the equilibrium point is for the mass to be at the tip of the spring. I made the mass out of dark matter so it wouldn't actually be hitting the rod. The clankety-clanking would disturb the problem. The mass is merely coupled to the tip of the rod via the spring. Note also DrD that the spring distance is the distance between the mass and the far end. The electrostatic attraction depends on the distance between the mass and the pin end. Also, I just remembered radiative effects due to an accelerating charge. You may neglect them--more divine intervention. And when I said the mass M was significant, that's my way of saying that the motion of the rod is NOT the same as with no mass or with the tiny bead. As Remo has realized, you have to be smoking crack to want to work out the forces and torques involved. You should start your problem by stating your degrees of freedom. Apparently, I didn't word the problem clearly, so we're getting confusion on this. Here are my coordinates. Feel free to use them or use your own if you think they are better: theta_rod (measured counterclockwise from horizontal) theta_mass (angle of the line from the tip of the rod to the mass, measured counterclockwise from horizontal) r_mass (distance from the tip of the rod to the mass) The cartesian coordinates of the mass with the origin at the pin and their time derivatives (in terms of my chosen coordinates and their derivatives) are: theta_rod (measured counterclockwise from horizontal) theta_mass (angle of the line from the tip of the rod to the mass, measured counterclockwise from horizontal) r_mass (distance from the tip of the rod to the mass) The cartesian coordinates of the mass with the origin at the pin and their time derivatives (in terms of my chosen coordinates and their derivatives) are: x = L cos (theta_rod) + r_mass cos (theta_mass) y = L sin (theta_rod) + r_mass sin (theta_mass) x' = - L sin (theta_rod) theta_rod' - r_mass sin (theta_mass) theta_mass' + r' cos (theta_mass) y' = L cos (theta_rod) theta_rod' + r_mass cos (theta_mass) theta_mass' + r' sin (theta_mass) No, Dr. D, the motion rod is most definitely coupled to that of the mass. The spring exerts a torque on the rod. If you persist in this senseless course of action (considering forces and torques), you will have to account for that. :) I apologize for not drawing the diagram myself in the first place. I've never learned how to use the image hosting sites. I should. Yes, that is the drawing I had in mind. Thank you for doing it. I imagined the electrostatic force being repulsive, but the sign of what you call "c" isn't really important. I was hoping I could make something sufficiently disgusting that a Lagrangian approach would be easier. But when you go and draw such nice, clear force diagrams, the difficulty does seem to melt away. Anyway, I will leave this up just in case Remo decides to do some derivatives and write the Euler Lagrange equations. I haven't even finished doing so myself. But I will if he doesn't in a couple days. I already have an idea for the VI th problem. Unless someone posts something better. Basically take this setup at equilibrium and find the Eigenmodes and Eigenfrequencies for small deviations. Oh, and my fussing was about "The kinematics of the rod is defined by θ only." Which I took to mean that you were saying theta wasn't coupled to the other two degrees of freedom. Apparently that's not what you meant.
