What is the best spinning rod for 50$ or less?

My reel is spooled with 8 lb test. I will use it in light saltwater but I don't care if it is a saltwater rod. I also do a little bass fishing

  1. Ugly Stiks. They are increadible..And dont cost a fortune.
  2. i have always loved any and every reel that shimano has put out....currently i have a shimano baitrunner4500 but that was an investment for me...check out shimano's website though... Also, since i was just about 4 years old, the only rods i have used is the Shakespeare Ugly Stick....
  3. Definitely an Ugly Stick. I also like my Berkley Lightning Rod.
  4. http://www.cabelas.com/home.jsp;jsessionid=20RFGQZOSZDYVLAQBBLCCN3MCAEFAIWE?_requestid=110292 it has all sorts of fishing stuff i luv it!!!
  5. Katie is right on! For $50 and down, Ugly Stik would be a good choice. HOWEVER, if you do go the Ugly "route" make sure to buy an Ugly Stik Lite series. They have 50% better sensitivity and cork handles.
  6. I personally like the Berkley Lighting Rod. Best rod I have used for the money. A lot of people like the ugly sticks because they are unbreakable and cheap. Good for beginners. They're tough, but lack the sensitivity that you need for sportfish like Bass and such. I personally think they're crap and wouldn't use them for anything but carp and catfish. Find the right size and sensitivity in a Berkley Lighting Rod and you'll be happy. It's worth the extra 10-15 dollars. I think I bought mine at WalMart for like 30 dollars.
  7. the king kat 2 reel at cabelas 19.99 dollars and can be spooled with 20 lbs. test
