Can a harrington rod fused to the end of your spine cause erectile dysfunction?
I also have a heart problem and don't want to mess with viagra but I don't want to HAVE to be alone because of this. I'm just not a "consistant performer" shall we say? My docs all say it's too dangerous at this point to remove the rod and I've had two back surgeries because they screwed up the first one. SO options? Are there safe alternatives to viagra that I can take or do I just hang it up now?

- Unless the rod has been inserted incorrectly and is pressing on something vital I doubt very much it has anything to do with your problem. I would talk to your doctor about your problem and see what he/she says. If you have heart problems you are probably on some type of meds. Don't mix meds with natural supplements unless you talk to your doctor because you could have problems with them!
- My husband has disc degenerative disease. It is aggressive and he has gone from 1 herniation in 2002 to 1 rupture w/ inoperable extrusion L5-S1, L-5-L-4, L4-L3, one thoracic and one cervical I can't remember - he has compression of the sciatic, sacral and femoral nerves and is undergoing testing for nerves in his neck and arms. We are waiting for stem cell treatment, and you can bet he's not a "consistant performer" but he is not alone! A good woman is understanding and will love you anyway! A good woman will be supportive and understanding - and you know even guys that are 100% normal have trouble sometimes. We all have bad days, you know. If a woman doesn't orgasm it's no big deal, but society puts so much pressure on men to be at peak performance all day long it's awful. There are plenty of other things you can do in bed - or if you're in too much pain, just say so. If she doesn't understand, she's not worth it. Both the nerve damage and the pain medication can cause ED. Sometimes it is helpful if you wait to take your meds (especially the short acting ones) till after. I urge you not to get the surgeries, etc as they can cause damage. Find a woman who understands that quality is better than quantity - there are more out there than society would have you believe.
- I think age makes a difference with regard to how important sex is. One thing for sure, those ED drugs have some serious side effects. Have you seen that commercial where the woman playfully splashes water in the guy's face? Well, my husband and I joke that it's because he's blind and deaf and it's the only way she can get his attention. LOL! Don't get me wrong - it's not that I think this is funny, but I do think that it's a SERIOUS decision to add drugs like that. All drugs have good things that they do AND BAD THINGS THAT THEY DO. You should only take drugs if you REALLY REALLY NEED THEM. Companionship is way more important than sex. The older you are, the more true that is. Can you search for "companionship first," maybe through sites like eHarmony? I'm sure there are a lot of people out there - male and female - who have this type of problem. No one wants to be alone, right? Good luck!
