How do I use a fishing rod with a spinning reel?
I'm new to fishing. I got a fishing rod and a spinning reel. I'm not sure how does a spinning reel works. So can anyone of you guys help? I heard there's a few type of reels, and what I have now is the spinning reel.

- you mean what????
- It's easy, the "bail" on the reel needs to be flipped open to release line, and will close automatically when you start reeling (or you can close it yourself). Set the drag so that line can smoothly peel off with the bail closed, so a big fish can't break your line. Open the bail to cast, and hold the line against the rod with your finger, let go at the right moment during your cast.
- There are two types of spinning reels. One is open faced. With the open faced you can see the fishing line. To use this type of reel, hold the fishing line against the rod with your index finger of your right hand if you are a righty, left hand for lefty. While holding the line against the rod flip the half moon shaped bar open with your other hand. Hold the bottom of the rod with your free hand (the one that isn't holding the line). Point the rod tip out in front of you and with both hands bring it behind your head. Then you want to swing the whole thing forward, releasing the line from your hand when the rod tip is back in front of you. It is very hard to explain and you are much better off with a hands on lesson. Ask someone at your local fishing hole to teach you. Do no be shy, fishermen love to teach new guys. The second type of spinning reel is a spincaster. With this reel you can't see the spool of line. There is a push button on the back about the size of your thumb. This type is very easy. Hold the rod with your right hand if your a righty, left if your lefty. While holding your rod put your thumb on the button on the reel. Press the button and whip the bait toward the water. Make sure you don't throw your gear in to the water... If you throw your stuff in the lake then you added an extra step that should not have been added. Hope this helps and I say again, ask someone to show you!
