How will get the fishing rod in Harvest moon Ds if nina already died?

According to the sites that i've read you're gonna get the rod from nina and galen's house, but what if nina died already does that means i can't get the fishing rod anymore?please help,

1. i believe that galen gives you the fishing rod after nina does. cool your jets, homie.
2. give galen lots and lots of snelts(? check somewhere else to make sure) and go into his new house at 10 in the morning(? check this too)
