In harvest moon ds what does the upgraded fishing rod do?

I upgraded my my fishing rod to mystrile and i don't really know what the difference is from the one i started out with. HELP!!!

1. i am pretty sure with the upgraded fishing rod you can catch more fish
2. With the upgraded fishing rod you can catch larger fish in larger quantities. Also, you need the mystrile fishing rod to unlock a sprite (a sprite will be rescued when you cast the mystrile rod for the first time), and you need it to catch the bottle required for Leia the Mermaid's yellow heart event.
3. If you charge the fishing rod like the other tools, you can catch fish larger than 'small'. It is also a requirement to level tools to unlock the curesed tools, which unlock sprites.
