How do you get a fishing rod & catch fish in Harvest Moon- Island of Happiness?

I need to unlock Denny to get Vaughn's heart, so I need to catch 50 fish in order to get him. Now all I need is a fishing rod and know /how to fish/. xD Help...?

1. Fishing is an easy way to make money in the game, but unfortunately you don't start out with your own Fishing Rod. To obtain the pole, give Taro a gift each day until he reaches 2000 Friend Points. The next morning as you are leaving your house, the old man will have the Fishing Pole for you. The earliest you can get the pole is Spring 10 of your first year.
2. First you have to become friends with Taro. Talk to him once a day for 3-5 days, then start giving him gifts. He like the heart-shaped grasses, and REALLY like fodder, but technically you can do it without gifts at all if you just keep talking to him. Once your are good enough friends Taro will enter your house one morning and give you the fishing rod and tutorial. To paraphrase it... 1. Equip the rod like any other tool. 2. Stand next to a body of water (ie stream, ocean, or the pond in the forest.) 3. Use the fishing rod to cast. 4. Now watch your character, when a ! appears over his/her head, use the tool again. 5. With good timing, and luck, you will catch a fish. Unlike previous HM games, the fishing rod can not be upgraded in HM:IoH. You cannot put wonderfuls in it. The fish size and quality you catch is ENTIRELY random. In the Summer you have a chance to catch Pirate Treasure in the ocean, and in the Fall you could catch fish fossils in the ocean as well. These are worth a lot of money, but are entirely at random.
