Can I use any rod for spinning?

I was just wondering, can you use any type of fishing rod when you're spinning? Obviously, apart from dapping & fly rods :). Any help would be appreciated.

1. A light tip actioned rod would work allot better than a heavy saltwater rod, you need a rod that will be capable of casting light lures/spinners with ease.
2. sure can, but you don't want a huge spinning reel on a feather weight rod. just make them proportional for what your fishing for and you'll be ok
3. sure can just like the other person said, make sure there somewhat proportional, the only rod u cant use for spinning is a baitcasting rod
4. sure but unless you want anglers to laugh at you buy a spinning rod for a spinning real and a baitcaster reel for a baitcaster rod ( pistol grip, pitching stick or down rigging rod.) The spin caster rods have much bigger eyes (where the line travels through and baitcasters all small ones though both graduate in size getting smaller at the tip
