If one inner tie rod needs replacement, should I replace both at the same time? Or any other related parts?

I have a 1997 Honda CR-V, and I've been told that I should replace my right inner tie rod. Is there any good reason to replace the inner tie rod on the other side at the same time? Or might that one still last for a long time? If there is anything else that I should do at the same time, I'd appreciate that info too. (For example, if there would be significant labor overlap on the jobs.) Thanks!

  1. replacing a tie rod is a small job. just replace it when its got play otherwise its not gonna make a difference. But you must do wheel alignment otherwise the car will weer to the one side use more gas and ware down your Tyre's.
  2. i would only replace what is bad and have and alignment done on the vehicle along with the replacement of the tie rod. have the front and rear suspension checked for any other worn Components.
  3. if the other side is still tight then i can,t see the use of replacing it until it gets bad.
  4. If the other side does not have play in it then it does not need to be replaced.
