How do you rig a salt water fishing rod and reel?

I have a salt water rod and reel I need to rig but can't figure out how to do it. The spool that the line is on does not rotate when the reel is turned which would make it impossible to reel back in once cast out. I need to know what the line attaches to so that it can be wound back up hopefully if I ever get a fish on the line.

1. l think you better go back and ask the guy at the store where you bought it. or just fish with a piece of string tied on a stick. it sounds kind of complicated.
2. Sounds like there is a problem with the reel, if its new, then contact the warranty dept of the reel maker (check their website for warranty details). If its old, a local tackle shop maybe able to have a look at it for you, however, if its rusted and seized inside, it maybe better to just get a new one.
