I have a very old bamboo fly rod, can you help?

I have a very old bamboo fly rod that was my great grandfather's. It has red banding around the eyes. The eyes are different than any i have seen before, being that they are loose rings that are wired to the rod itself. There are no markings on it whatsoever. It is 11 feet long and in a form fitted green case that has leather bands to hold the rod in place. It is 3 sections and breaks down to 45 inches. Extra end section too. any info would be great.

  3. what you have might be worth a fortune to a collector depending on who made the rod and how old it actually is. bamboo fly rods are amazing pieces of craftsmanship and an important part of fly fishing history. there is a great book on the history of bamboo flyrods in the US called "casting a spell" http://www.amazon.com/Casting-Spell-American-Pursuit-Perfection/dp/1400063965 it has great info on some of the greatest craftsman to ever make rods in the US and some info on modern masters who continue to make these beautiful rods. bamboo rods are functional works of art, you should hang on to it and take care of it.......
