Can a car still run with spun rod bearings?

im trading cars but the car im trading for wont run because of spun rod bearings. can this cause the car not to run?

1. Until motor freezes up . But why keep running it ? All you are doing is making sure the crank cannot be turned to rebuild motor . Everytime that crank goes around , a little more metal is eat off .
