Whats the best ultralite spinning rod and reel?
I'm fairly addicted to fishing for shell-crackers and I have big ones in my lake, so I want a good rod and reel. I'm really considering a Pflueger, and I've also heard that Shakespeare makes good ones. there all in the 40-50 range so that's around what I want for it.

- I've got a couple of Shakespeare spinning rods which I've used with Shakespeare Synergy reels, and a 12 foot Shakespeare beachcaster mainly used with an Abu Gacia reel. Used them for years now and they've been fine but why would you want go ultralite for big Sunfish? They can fight. Here are some Shakespeare stories from customers. http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/stories/index.php . . . . . .
- My best ultralight is an eight-foot-six Eagle Claw five/six-weight flyrod with a Shakespeare underspin or triggerspin (call it whatcha like) reel loaded with four-pound line. I use it a lot for the Float-N-Fly rig for crappie, tossing nightcrawlers under a float for bluegill and redear. Lately I've been using it with live shad for bass between one-and-a-half and four-pounds. It's AWESOME fun and hilarious the way the rod bends at the handle and the way the drag screams. Anyway...
