how much weight can a medium action 5'6 spinning rod support?

I would want to know how much a medium action 5'6 spinning rod can support in fishing.I am using a 4lb line. I am using the rod to catch large mouth bass in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, New York. The most i want to hold is 3 pouns, will my rod be able to support that much?

1. You would most likely get a better answer if you listed this in the fishing section instead of hunting.
2. ahh prospect park. My Pa had a job there. His favorite activity was calling security on people who didn't release the fish.
3. Your fishing rod is adequate for 3 pound large mouth. I have successfully landed 12 lb Chinook Salmon on and old medium action rod, with the same length.
