How do you use the fishing rod on Sims 2 castaway?

I have made the fishing rod, but i dont no how to use it. I go near water(the sea, river, and the lake thing) but no options come up that say go fishing with the rod. Please help!

2. walk ur sim near a deep sea or shore.. n there should be an icon appear (throw).. then wait for the fish 2 get caught.. it may take some time.. i always caught some red snapper..
3. Go out to the rock near the shipwreck and fish from there, also from the rock by the pool on the island you get to after making your canoe. Hope that's clear it's been awhile since i played this on the ds game
4. go in the part of the water where you can actually see the fish and then the option to use the fishing rod will come up
5. On ds you can only use the rod in the first area from beach before shipwreck or next to lake before airplane crash.Stand on the rocks,cast and change bait to the same colour as the bubble above fish.
