What would rod you recommend for coastal inshore fishing?

I was considering getting an ugly stik tiger lite rod because i've heard they are rugged and affordable. I'm looking for rods in the $50-75 range. Are the tiger lites sensitive enough to detect bites or should I try to find a more sensitive rod? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

  1. The Ugly Stick is 30$....I had one for 4 years now and not one problem yet
  2. "Sensitivity in a rod is good thing until you get one that's so sensitive it literally cries every time you make a cast." Icy. Stick with a med./ heavy action rod with a tip that does not whip around to much. You'll know what I mean when you try it out. Cast like you normally would, if the whole rod whips like you're beating down a horse in a chariot race, it's too soft! If it bends but snaps back so fast that you killed a fly in mid flight with a sonic boom..too stiff. A perfect rod should bend and flow both during the cast and after the cast without feeling like a burden to your arms and wrist. You'll know, you'll smile so hard that people can see up your nose and see your brain from the camping section. Go with what works for you and the only way to find this out is to check rods for yourself.
  3. I would go for a 14 ft beachcaster with a spin reel for inshore fishing. It does not matter which brand. Any of them work
