- it all depends on the make i.e a shakesspear fibre glass is around 80pound or a fox one is say 120..its all about the make these days..nver the less a non make wil fetch around 50-60quid second hand providing u find the right buyer
- What brand is the rod, any fiber glass rods aren't actually that old as the idea of fiberglass rod banks wasn't that long ago, depending on the make it could be worth very little, but if its in excellent condition and like some models were limited to only a few made then it could be worth allot, why not take up fishing with it, its a great thing to do to pass some time.
- Are you sure it's made from fiberglass? To my knowledge, fiberglass fishing rods weren't invented until 1947 by the Shakespeare co. If it's really an antique, then it's probably made out of either split bamboo or hollow steel (or even hardwood, if it's from the 1800's).
- Logic is correct....the advent of fiberglass is circa 1947. There is one particular brand made in England that will command a higher price than most other makes. HARDY If your rod is a Hardy, it may be worth something, but..... it all depends if it is a fly rod, spinning rod or baitcater, length, model, pound or line weight ..etc. More info on the specifics of the rod would be beneficial. It may be a bamboo rod, if it is hexoconal instead of round it would be bamboo instead of fiberglass. Please add additional info and we may be able to help you.
