Can you recommend me a fishing rod for an adult beginner?
Rod to be used for a fishing trip; rod rest to be used; no poles.

- I would get a shakespear ugly stick. They are virtually unbreakable and are of good quality for a cheap price. They often come in a combo as well. You can pick them up at Academy, Walmart, ect
- i rec the ugly stick too. I would go with a spinning reel for a beginner, easy to cast even using light lures/bait. I would check cabelas bargain cave for a good combo setup.
- If you are looking for a general answer for a decent rod I would recommend a Shakespeare Ugly stick. Getting a little more specific is difficult because I do not know what type of fishing you are going to be doing. I am assuming you are going to be going after fish up to the 25 pound class. For a beginner the best type of reel is the spinning reel on a medium action, 7ft, one piece rod. I recommend a one piece rod because it will not break as easily or slide apart while fishing as 2 piece rods do. I have seen more rods split and break right at the joint than I have seen 1 piece rods broken. I suggest before going on the trip you take a little time to practice with your rod just to get used to the feel and action of the rod. Make sure if you practice casting and retrieving that you replace the line before the trip to reduce the possibility of loosing a fish because the line is frayed a little causing a weak spot in the line. - zebco 33 rod and reel combos for around 30 buck is a good reliable out fit to start with dont buy the 3o3 or 4o4 they are junk
- G Loomis rods i have found to be the best rods on the market if you brake it they have a no questions asked policy just send the rod and $50.00 they send you a new one or no money and wait for warranty repair the rods range from $150 to $250 each recomend shimano bait casters & level winds 400 series
- I disagree with the ppl recommending the ugly stick. They may be unbreakable but the have absolutely no bend. They are not fun to fight fish with. Find ne rod that is pretty flexible and u will have more fun.
- something that is made in america and is not made out of lead
- If fishing to you is just going to be an every now and then thing go with the ugly stik, but if you get into becoming a diehard fisherman then it will become time to upgrade to a high dolar shimano or g loomis
- shakespeare uglystik definately, there almost indestructable, your local tackle shop should be able to help you match your rod to your type of fishing
